Chidorinoki
Acer carpinifolium


A small deciduous tree with greenish darkgrey smooth bark.

Leaves are decussately opposite, oblong, acuminate at the apex, rounded or shallowly cordate at the base, penninerved with 20-24 pairs ofparallel lateral veins.

This spesies is rather common in the second layer of deciduous forests along mountain streams in the cool temperate zone.

It has many dialects such as Yamashiba, Tanigashi, Sawaguri, Araha.

The wood is used for utensils, furnitures, boxes, turneries, fuels.

Distribution ; Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu
