Kalopanax septemlobus


A large deciduous tree with blackish brown fissured bark.

Leaves are alternate, palmately 5-9 lobed, serrate on the margin.

Petioles are long. Branchets are stout and spiny.

It is called Sennoki in Tohoku District.

The wood is used for furnitures, buildings, instruments, clogs, veneer.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Saghalien, Southern Kuriles, Korea, Manchuria, China
