Hauchiwakaede
Acer japonicum


A medium sized deciduous tree with greyish white smooth bark.

Leaves are opposite, orbicular-cordate, palmately 9-11 lobed.

This tree is commonly found in the cool temperate zone to the lower part of the subalpine zone, prefering sunny and dry places.

The wood is used for furnitures, boxes, engravings. It is planted for garden trees.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu
