Leaves are opposite, 7-11 lobed, cordate at the base.
It grows in the cool temperate mountains. It is resemble to Acer shirasawanum, but its leaf is smaller, thiner and less hairy beneath than that of Acer Shirasawanum.
The wood is used for utensils. It is planted for garden trees.
