Kajikaede
Acer diabolicum


A medium sized deciduous tree with grey smooth bark.

Leaves are decussate, shalloely 5-lobed, coarsely dentate on the margin.

Palmately 5 main veins are prominent with straight lateral veins pinnately arranged.

This maple is epidemic to Japan and distributed in the cool temperate region.

It is also called Onimomiji.

The wood is used for utensils, boxes. It is planted for ornamental trees.

Distribution ; Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu
