Viburnum Awabuki


An evergreen small tree with dark reddish grey brown smooth bark.

Leaves are decussately opposite, thick coriaceous, deep green and lustrous above.

Fruits ripen red to blackish purple from August on.

Natural distribution of this tree is obscure as people ordinarily plant this tree in the warm temperate zone.

The wood is used for turneries, utensils. It is planted for garden trees and hedges of fire break.

Distribution ; Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Korea, China, Tropical Asia
