Betula platphylla var. japonica


A deciduous midium size tree with white bark.

Leaves are alternate, duplicately serrulate on the margin.

Pure stands are often found on mountain fired area.

The wood is used for utensils, paper pulp, sculptures, fuels and bark for handiwork.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Saghalien, Southern Kuriles, Korea, Manchuria
