Leaves are alternate, wide oval, serrate, and acuminate at the both end.

Pink or white flowers open on the top of shoots in April to May.

Fruits are globe-shaped with cave-in top, and ripen to red or yellowish red.

Distribution ; Native to middle Europe and Afganistan, planted for edible fruits.
