Tetsukaede

A medium sized deciduous tree with greenish grey smooth bark.

Leaves are decussately opposite, pentagonal, double serrate on the margin.

Petioles are long as long as leaf.

This species indicates a discontinuous distribution and very rare in western Japan.

The wood is used for turneries, chopsticks, toys.

Distribution ; Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu
